Application Information

  • Presidential Scholars (Classes on High School Campus)

    The off-site dual credit program is for students wanting to take dual credit courses on their high school campus. This program is available only to high schools that have a dual credit agreement with ASU. Please check with your high school counselor to determine if your high school is a current ASU Dual Credit partner.

    • Admission Criteria

      If you are wishing to enroll in ASU dual credit courses at your high school, please ensure you meet the admission requirements below. If you are unsure of these requirements, please contact your high school counselor for more information.

      • Completed Sophomore Year in high school
      • At least a 3.0 high school GPA, or top 50% in your graduating class
      • Permission from high school counselor or administrator
    • Steps to Apply
      • Dual Credit Application - Click link to begin the application. Complete and submit an online dual credit application for admission: 
      • Submit a signed Presidential Scholars Agreement Form to your high school counselor.
      • Request your high school transcript and all test scores be sent to ASU. The preferred method to receive transcripts is via TREX.

    • Test Score Requirements (TSI)

      In order to enroll in a dual credit Math or English course with ASU, all students who do not meet TSI exemption requirements must take a TSI Assessment test in Math and/or Reading and Writing. Score requirements are listed below. TSI Assessment scores or exemptions must be recorded with ASU prior to enrollment.

      Redesigned SAT (new SAT test) Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing score of 480 or higher Minimum score of 530 on the math section

       TSI Assessment Test  351 or higher Essay: 5; or Essay 4 and Multiple Choice of 363 350 or higher

      *All college-level English courses require passing TSI scores in Reading and Writing
      **All college-level Math courses require passing TSI scores in Math

  • Regent Scholars (Classes on ASU Campus)

    The on-site dual credit program is for students wanting to take classes on the ASU campus in San Angelo. This program is available to students who wish to commute to the ASU campus to take courses in the ASU classrooms with current students.

    • Admission Criteria

      To be eligible for admission to this program, high school students must meet the following requirements:

      *SAT scores include combined critical reading and math.  Redesigned SAT scores include evidence-based reading & writing and math.  Both SAT tests will use the combined maximum score of 1600.  Click here for additional information regarding the redesigned SAT exam.

      Private School Students

      Students attending a Private School must submit the Texas Private High School Certification.

      • Dual Credit Application- Click link to begin the application.  Complete and submit an online dual credit application for admission.
      • Submit a signed Regent Scholars Agreement Form to your high school counselor.
      • Request your high school transcript and all test scores be sent to Angelo State.  The preferred method to receive transcripts is via TREX.
      • Review all available courses and complete a course selection sheet with your high school counselor. 
      • Provide Angelo State with proof of a bacterial meningitis vaccination. It is required all students under the age of 22 receive this vaccination prior to registration for courses.

    • TSI Information

      All students who do not meet TSI exemption requirements must take a TSI Assessment test in Math and/or Reading and Writing and meet the minimum score below in order to enroll in a dual credit Math or English course with Angelo State. TSI Assessment scores or exemptions must be recorded with Angelo State prior to enrollment.
