The Rammys are an annual awards ceremony hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA) in conjunction with the Student Life Office that honors registered student organizations, student leaders along with faculty and staff who have made outstanding contributions to Angelo State University and the San Angelo community throughout the academic school year.
Students, faculty, and staff involved with registered student organizations influence student life, leadership development, school spirit, and community engagement every day. The SGA and Student Life offices realize the importance of these qualities and their unique ability to enhance the overall quality of the campus experience. Therefore, we take this opportunity to reward those registered student organizations which make the biggest difference in the lives of students.
All registered student organizations are invited to attend this event which features dinner and the presentation of the awards. The attire for the evening is cocktail attire.
Promising Male Leader of the Year Award
This award goes to a male student that has shown great leadership potential within the University and within his organization. This student must demonstrate an overall ability to lead in a productive manner with emphasis on dedication and commitment and must be in good standing with the University.
Promising Female Leaders of the Year Award
This award goes to a female student that has shown great leadership potential within the University and within her organization. This student must demonstrate an overall ability to lead in a productive manner with emphasis on dedication and commitment and must be in good standing with the University.
Advisor of the Year Award
This award will go to an advisor of a registered student organization who has shown immense commitment and enthusiasm for the organization. Going above and beyond the requirements of the organization he or she advises, and truly dedicated to the organization and its members.
Quiet Influence Award
This award will go to a faculty or staff member that has shown great dedication to the well-being of the students at Angelo State University, but has often gone unrecognized for his or her services.
Academic/Professional Organization of the Year
This award goes to the academic organization that displays the academic excellence of Angelo State University and its students. This organization preserves the academic merit of Angelo State University as well as motivates its members to succeed in their field of study.
Board/Council Organization of the Year
This award goes to the board or council that provides superior leadership and direction to their members. This organization provides their membership with guidance and support for initiatives both on-campus and off.

Club Sports Organization of the Year
This organization allows ASU students to compete against other universities in non-NCAA sporting events. This award is given to an organization that is not only successful in competition, but also strives to uphold the integrity of Angelo State University throughout their competing season. To nominate your organization for this award, please provide a resume which includes: tournaments competed in, win & loss records, campus support, and any other pertinent information as well as a 250 word essay describing why your organization should receive this award
Greek Life Organization of the Year
This award goes to the fraternity or sorority which promotes Angelo State University in a genuine manner to their fellow students both on-campus and to their national organization. This organization must be in good-standing with the university, and exhibit good spirit and character throughout the year.
Honor Society of the Year
This award goes to the honor society that recognizes academic excellence and leadership. This organization must have a cumulative GPA requirement of 3.0 among all its members.
Multicultural/International Organization of the Year
This award goes to the multicultural/international student organization which displays a sincere dedication to multiculturalism and diversity. The organization will be selected based on its ability and willingness to educate students about various cultures by hosting events and celebrating their traditions.
Service Organization of the Year Award
This award goes to the service organization that has demonstrated their service to Angelo State University and the surrounding San Angelo community. The organization will be selected based on their ability to provide ASU students with the opportunity to develop service leadership skills and engage in both campus and community development.
Special Interest Organization of the Year Award
This award goes to the special interest organization that has demonstrated commitment to their purpose and mission through its activities and events for members at Angelo State University and the community. This organization provides an outlet for interests not typically addressed by other organizations.
All Student Organization Awards
Dr. E. James Hindman Award
This award recognizes the overall organization of the year. The organization must have demonstrated strong leadership, creativity, initiative, and perseverance. This organization also must have made a meaningful contribution to the students, the University, and to the surrounding community.
Most Spirited Organization Award
This award is to recognize the organization that has exhibited the most school spirit throughout the year. This organization has demonstrated “Ram Pride” and striven to enhance the campus community by supporting University programs traditions, events, and fellow student organizations.
Outstanding Community Service Award
This award is to recognize the organization who has sought out to serve not only Angelo State University but the San Angelo community as well. The organization will be selected based on contributions and participation.
Rising Ram Organization Award
This award will go to a student organization that is new to Angelo State University this school year. The organization will be selected based on their organization’s development, leadership advancement of members, ability to overcome obstacles, and contribution to the University and community.
