Vets/Military Services Director Named to Statewide Post

Susan J. Williams, director of affiliated military and veteran services at Angelo State University, has been named the 2017-18 spokesperson for four-year public institutions for the Texas Association of Collegiate Veteran Program Officials (TACVPO).

Texas Association of Collegiate Veteran Program Officials LogoThe TACVPO is a statewide organization whose primary goal is to help educate staff members who provide assistance to veterans and their family members using state and federal veterans education benefits at educational institutions throughout Texas. 

As the organization’s representative for four-year public institutions, Williams will be tasked with identifying current issues, as well as developing educational sessions and other programming for the 44th annual TACVPO School Certifying Officials Conference in March 2018 in San Antonio.

A 1998 ASU graduate, Williams initially joined the ASU staff as deputy director of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Center for Security Studies in April 2010. She previously spent 12 years in several key senior civilian leadership positions in intelligence training at San Angelo’s Goodfellow Air Force Base, including two years as chief of faculty development. In her current position, she oversees all operations of ASU’s Veterans Educational and Transitional Services (VETS) Center

Founded in 1973, the TACVPO provides education and training resources on all aspects of veterans education benefits, as well as member networking opportunities. It has more than 130 members at institutions of higher education across Texas. More details are available at
