Gary Davis has been a public school educator for the past 27 years. He has a degree in Advertising Art & English , as well as a Masters degree in Educational Administration. Before becoming an administrator, he taught Speech and Theatre in Texas and New Mexico. His students achieved many honors in UIL theatre and speech competitions. In 9 years of UIL competition, his OAP productions advanced to the regional level 8 times and to the UIL State One-act play contest twice. He is a member of the TETA Advisory Board and a member of TETA’s UIL Advisory Committee. He has served in all capacities of the UIL OAP contest including: student actor, director, contest manager, clinician, adjudicator, and now his favorite…the father of OAP participants. One of his proudest moments was seeing his former student direct his own daughter at the UIL State OAP contest. Mr. Davis was a high school principal for 8 years before becoming the Superintendent of Schools. He is an avid, life-long supporter of the UIL and ALL of its co-curricular activities.
