Kaltura’s deeply integrated Video Building Block for Blackboard enables students, faculty, teaching assistants and administrators to use and reuse media for course resources, video assignments, lectures, and more. By simplifying media usage, Kaltura aims to enable improved student engagement, creativity, and learning results.
To add content to your Course Gallery, such as a previously recorded video, uploading media will be the option to choose! The video does not have to be in a specific video file format. Simply navigate to your Course Tools in your Control Panel, select Course Gallery, and add your Media.
Record from Webcam
When recording from your webcam, you may record messages to students, a short introduction to a lesson, or provide a subject lecture. To begin recording your session, navigate to your Course Gallery, Add Media, and begin recording by selecting the webcam option.
When recording your screen, you may record messages to students, a short introduction to a lesson, or show students how to navigate to the website or use a computer application. To learn more about using the screen recording features contact the eLearning Center.
After you have uploaded your media to your Course Gallery, you have the option to deploy it to any content area of your choosing. To do this, access the content area and select Build Content. Under Mashups, select Kaltura Media and choose your media!
When removing content, be sure that this is content that does not need to be reused at a later time. To suspend the content, navigate to your Course Gallery, choose the content to be suspended, and uncheck the box “Make this item Public in Gallery”. To remove content, select “Remove from Course.”
Course Media Module
Inside of Blackboard, you may add a Course Media module to the Module page. This allows you the opportunity to display a series of videos on the home page. Simply navigate to your Course Gallery and select “Add to Gallery Module on Course Homepage.”
The Media Gallery tool allows the student to view, create, upload and share videos with the instructor and other students. Students can manage the visibility, creation, and removal of content through the Media Gallery.
Upload Your Video
Users can upload their video to any assignment by clicking on the Mashups button in the submission box of your assignment. Make sure the video is in MP4 or MP3 format, file length is between 2-5 minutes, and the file size is NOT to exceed 2 GB.
