I am a Junior at Angelo State University pursuing a double major in Biology and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. I recently earned early acceptance to Texas Tech Health Science Center School of Medicine in Lubbock where I will be attending starting August 2018 in hopes of becoming a surgeon. I have been involved in SGA since April 2015 of my freshman year at ASU, when I served as a Senator. I have served in many leadership roles in SGA including: Environment, Health, and Sports Committee Chair during fall 2015 and Special Events Committee Chair during spring 2016. As Special Events Committee Chair, I worked with the Assistant Direct of Student Life to plan the 2016 Rammys. I currently serve on the SGA Executive Cabinet as President Pro Tempore. As President Pro Tempore, my main duties are to oversee the seven committees of SGA by provided guidance, administrative contacts, and help when necessary. Moreover, I am responsible for overseeing all the planning SGA is involved with including the Christmas Tree Lighting, our banquets, and currently the 2017 Rammys. I have two years of experience in SGA as well as one year of executive experience. I am also involved in other organizations on campus. I play fly-half for the Rambelle Rugby Club. Being a self-coached organization, rugby has provided me with an avenue to expand my leadership and communication skills by working with the leadership team to organize all of our practices, games, and tournaments. As the treasurer, I am required to fill out all the necessary paperwork before and after every time we travel and manage all of our funds related to SOLF funding and fundraisers. I am also in the ASU Honors Program, where I have been Co-Chair of the SAT Prep Program every spring since I was a freshman. I am a RAMbassador where I served on student panels for high school seniors and their parents to ask questions of current students. I am a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. I have also served on the Health Services Committee for ASU for the past two years, and I currently sit on the Club Sports Council at ASU. I work as an organic chemistry tutor in the Tutor Center, and I lab prep for the biology department. Other than my involvement on campus, I am involved in the community of San Angelo. Since my freshman year, I have volunteered weekly at the Pregnancy Help Center. I served on the Healthy Families of San Angelo Community Board as a voting member during my sophomore year. My experience in leadership roles throughout my time here at ASU as well as my current SGA executive leadership experience has prepared me well for the position as Student Body Vice President. Through these roles and our experience working with administration, Tristan and I will serve the student body with pride while providing an open-door avenue for every student’s concerns to be heard and acted on. Let’s build a better Angelo State!
