Center for Community Wellness,
Engagement and Development (WED)

The goal of the WED Center is to enhance the efforts of other agencies and facilitate the development of new programs, initiatives and processes to serve unmet community needs. Along with traditional community service, the center sponsors service/learning activities that incorporate curriculum objectives, student planning, critical thinking and reflection into continuing projects that benefit the community.

The WED Center is an umbrella for several multidisciplinary initiatives:

Community Development Initiatives (CDI)

Community Development Initiatives (CDI) organizes and applies ASU student and faculty talents to innovative projects that have the potential to positively impact community development. It also provides various services to assist community organizations in such areas as demographic research, evaluation and assessment.

Grant Resource Center (GRC)

The Grant Resource Center (GRC) provides nonprofits with personalized and comprehensive funding information on a wide range of grant related topics.  GRC offers a variety of services to local non-profit organizations and individuals including assistance with

  • locating funding sources
  • access to research material
  • and assistance in writing, proofing, and submitting grants

Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health

The Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health develops educational and outreach programs that will positively influence the health of women and their families in West Texas. The Institute also supports research that focuses on disease prevention and treatments that meet the differing health needs of women.
